Alamo
外號叫做Lone Star(孤星)。

Davy Crockett's Republic Speech
Republic. I like the sound of the word.
It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose.
Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat - the same tightness a man gets when his baby takes his first step or his first baby shaves and makes his first sound as a man.
Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words.

Davy Crockett

The green leaves of summer
A time to be reaping
A time to be sowing
The green leaves of summer are calling me home
Was so good to be young then
In the season of plenty
When the catfish were jumping as high as the sky
A time just for planting
A time just for plowing
A time to be courting a girl of your own
Was so good to be young then
To be close to the earth
And to stand by your wife at the moment of birth
A time to be reaping
A time to be sowing
A time just for living
A place for to die
Was so good to be young then
To be close to the earth
Now the green leaves of summer are calling me home ←
Remember The Alamo
One hundred and eighty were challenged by Travis to die
By the line that he drew with his gun when the battle was nigh
Any man that would fight to the death cross over
But him that would live better fly
And over the line went a hundred and seventy nine
Hey Santa Anna we're killing your soldiers below
That men where ever they go, will remember the Alamo
Bowie lay dyin', but his powder was ready and dry
Flat on his back Bowie killed him a few in reply
And young David Crockett was singin' and laughin'
With gallantry fierce in his eyes
For God and for freedom, a man more than willin' to die
Hey Santa Anna we're killing your soldiers below
That men where ever they go, will remember the Alamo
And then they sent a young scout from the battlements bloody and loud
With the words of farewell from a garrison valiant and proud
"Grieve not little darlin' my dyin', if Texas is sovereign and free
We'll never surrender and ever with liberty be"
Hey Santa Anna we're killing your soldiers below
That men where ever they go, will remember the Alamo
Ballad of the Alamo
In the southern part of Texas
In the town of San Antone
There's a fortress all in ruins that the weeds have overgrown
You may look in vain for crosses and you'll never see a-one
But sometimes between the setting and the rising of the sun
You can hear a ghostly bugle
As the men go marching by
You can hear them as they answer
To that roll call in the sky
Colonel Travis, Davy Crockett, and a hundred eighty more
Captain Dickinson, Jim Bowie
Present and accounted for
Back in 1836, Houston said to Travis
"Get some volunteers and go
Fortify the Alamo"
Well the men came from Texas
And from old Tennessee
And they joined up with Travis
Just to fight for the right to be free
Indian scouts with squirrel guns
Men with muzzle-loaders
Stood together, heel and toe
To defend the Alamo
"You may ne'er see your loved ones"
Travis told them that day
"Those who want to can leave now
Those who fight to the death let 'em stay"
In the sand he drew a line
With his army sabre
Out of a hundred eighty five
Not a soldier crossed the line
With his banners a-dancin'
In the dawn's golden light
Santa Anna came prancing
On a horse that was black as the night
Sent an officer to tell
Travis to surrender
Travis answered with a shell
And a rousing rebel yell
Santa Anna turned scarlet
"Play deguello!" he roared
"I will show them no quarter
Every one will be put to the sword!"
One hundred and eighty five
Holding back five thousand
Five days, six days, eight days, ten
Travis held and held again
Then he sent for replacements
For his wounded and lame
But the troops that were coming
Never came, never came, never came
Twice he charged and blew recall
On the fatal third time
Santa Anna breached the wall
And he killed 'em, one and all
Now the bugles are silent
And there's rust on each sword
And the small band of soldiers
Lie asleep in the arms of the Lord
In the southern part of Texas
Near the town of San Antone
Like a statue on his pinto rides a cowboy all alone
And he sees the cattle grazing where a century before
Santa Anna's guns were blazing and the cannons used to roar
And his eyes turn sorta misty
And his heart begins to glow
And he takes his hat off slowly
To the men of Alamo
To the thirteen days of glory
At the siege of Alamo

The Ballad of Davy Crockett
Born on a mountain in Tennessee
Greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods so's he knew every tree
He killed him a b'ar when he was only three
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
Fought single-handed thru the Injun war
'Till the Creeks was whipped and the peace was in store
And while he was a'handlin' this risky chore
Made hisself a legend forever more
Davy, Davy Crockett, the man who don't know fear
When he lost his love, his grief was gall
In his heart, he wanted to leave it all
And lose hisself in the forest tall
But he answered, instead, his country's call
Davy, Davy Crockett, the choice of the whole frontier
He went off to Congress and served a spell
Fixin' up the government and laws as well
Took over Washington, so I hear tell
And patched up a crack in the Liberty Bell
Davy, Davy Crockett, seein' his duty clear
When he came home, his politickin' done
Why, the big western march had just begun
So he packed his gear and his trusty gun
And lit out a'grinnin' to follow the sun
Davy, Davy Crockett, leadin' the pioneer
His land is the biggest, his land is the best
From grassy plaines to the mountain crest
He's ahead of us all and meetin' the test
And a'follern' his legend right into the west
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
